Specialist PPA Provision for Primary Schools

Consistent. Specialist. Curriculum‑Led.

Buzz Music and Arts provides specialist primary music and art PPA provision for schools in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire seeking consistent, curriculum-led teaching across the academic year.

Our experienced music and art teachers work closely with schools to deliver high-quality lessons that support progression, engagement, and wider school priorities, while providing reliable release time for school staff.

Our approach supports:

  • Dependable PPA release
  • Consistent, specialist teaching for pupils
  • A coherent music and art curriculum rather than ad‑hoc cover
  • Long‑term partnerships, not rotating agency staff

“Buzz Music have become a valued part of our school week. Their consistency, professionalism and understanding of progression in music has made a real difference for our pupils.”

Two subjects. Two specialists. One consistent provision.

Our core offer delivers both music and art as discrete curriculum subjects, each taught by a dedicated specialist.

This ensures pupils receive high-quality, subject-specific teaching, while schools benefit from reliable, well-structured PPA coverage across the week.

What this includes:

  • Music delivered by a specialist music practitioner
  • Art delivered by a specialist visual arts practitioner
  • Separate, progressive curricula for each subject, bespoke to your school and tailored to fit with your themes and values.
  • Consistent staff to support relationships and behaviour management
  • Central coordination, safeguarding and quality assurance
  • Delivery planned for 38 weeks of the academic year

Provision is tailored to school size:

  • 1‑form entry: 1 to 1.5 days per week
  • 2‑form entry: 2 to 2.5 days per week
  • 3‑form entry: 2.5 to 3 days per week

This is our recommended model for schools seeking a broad, high-quality creative curriculum.

A Bespoke, Joined Up arts Curriculum

We don’t deliver off‑the‑shelf lessons. Every school receives a bespoke music and art curriculum aligned with:

  • The National Curriculum for Music* and Art & Design
  • The school’s curriculum intent and values
  • Pupils’ prior experience and needs

Should schools wish to offer instrumental teaching or music/art clubs, these are integrated into the curriculum, creating clear progression rather than separate activities.

* Whole-class instrumental tuition is delivered in Year 3 or 4, giving all pupils the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in depth for at least one term, in line with the expectations of the Model Music Curriculum.

Music only PPA Provision (Available on request)

We also offer Music PPA provision as a standalone service for schools who are specifically looking to strengthen their music curriculum.

This option is typically chosen by schools who:

  • Already have strong art provision in place
  • Want to prioritise music as a key development area
  • Want us to work alongside another provider/staff member to ensure sufficient staff release time

We work in partnership with you to design a model that fits your:

  • Timetable
  • Staffing structure
  • Curriculum priorities

While many schools choose our Music & Art provision as a complete offer, we remain flexible and responsive to your individual needs.

This ensures provision is planned, consistent, and accountable.
